Winter 2014. Unrelenting.<\/p><\/div>\n

I haven’t posted lately.\u00a0 It just — well, it gets busy.\u00a0 I was going to write up my trip to Chicago to buy remainders back in October, and Otis’ Old Curiosity Shop here this holiday season, and then my trip to Seattle for Winter Institute (a booksellers’ forum), and, and…\u00a0 But you know how that all goes.<\/p>\n

So, what’s up this week?\u00a0 Here’s a peek into the life of a bookseller.<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, Thursday, we meet with Andy from Fujii & Associates to discuss new book releases from a myriad of publishers, including Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Workman, IPG, Candlewick, and others.\u00a0 In the evening, we have an Annex Gallery opening reception for Irwin Weinberger, whose watercolor flowers offers a pleasant respite from the doldrums of winter.<\/p>\n

On Friday we sell books at Michael Grant Jaffe’s book launch party, an off-site event.\u00a0 We’re excited to try out our new mobile credit card reader.\u00a0 Saturday brings us International Women’s Day, and we’ll celebrate with the rest of the street, and give a portion of our sales to Seeds of Literacy, as well as some books.<\/p>\n

Monday brings many regional booksellers to Cleveland for a conference by the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association (GLiBA), and the reception following the seminars will be held at Loganberry!\u00a0 We gotta clean up for our special guests (booksellers! authors! out-of-towners!), and you’d think it was spring with the number of new acquisitions we’ve been buying lately.\u00a0 I swear, when you turn your back, the books multiply.<\/p>\n

We also have a new website in the works.\u00a0 It’s many months in the making, but there’s finally something to really look at (still beta, not yet live), and there’s much content improvement on the horizon.\u00a0 We’re really looking forward to sharing it with you.\u00a0 All this, and it’s tax time, too!\u00a0 So…\u00a0 I found a minute to procrastinate that work to let you know what’s up in bookseller’s workaday.\u00a0 All good!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
