Preliminary Research

• Peruse  Solved Mysteries  and Most Requested Books on Loganberry's site to see if any ring a bell.  Try a search within Loganberry's site for your keywords:

    Once you find a likely page, use the Find function (<Control-F> in most browsers) to search for keywords on that page.
• If you think you remember the title or author, or a part of it, plug it into the card catalog at The Library of Congress.  Sometimes your memory is right on target.
• Loganberry Books is a general used bookstore in Cleveland, Ohio.  Stump the Bookseller focuses on children's books, although the book afficianados who use this site tend to be avid readers in many fields.  Loganberry Books reserves the right to decline posting any queries or comments deemed inappropriate.

• Please provide some specific details: approximate year, guesses at the title, character names, quirky plot descriptions.  Just knowing that this is a big red book with pretty pictures isn't enough, so rack your brain for some details.
• Give your book stumper a keyword clue to help identify it.  This can be a fraction of the title, character name, or plot element.  Limit this to 3-5 words, starting with the most memorable word.  For instance, "Cat lost in the woods" is more recognizable than "Red book about cat."  Your Book Stumper will be filed under this first letter (C in the first example, R in the second example).  It will be assigned a number to follow this letter at the end of the current list, i.e. C142.  You'll need to remember this keycode for future correspondence, and to facilitate checking back for possible solutions.

• After receiving the nominal fee, I'll post your Book Stumper on the New Book Stumpers page on the following Monday. Any comments or ideas concerning your Stumper will follow this listing (your comments in bold, mine in black, internet friends in various colors).  After about a month on the New Stumpers page (or less if quickly solved), your Stumper will be integrated into the Archives list, alphabetically by keyword code.
• When your Stumper is solved, the title will be posted underneath the Stumper keycode, i.e.:

You will then need to go the the Solved Mysteries page and look for the book alphabetically by title (in the example above, go to Solved Mysteries: W and scroll down to What Happened to George).  Your original stumper query, plus comments, solutions, and information known about the author, title, publisher and publication year should be there. If you're lucky, Loganberry Books will have a copy listed for sale, or contact us to proceed with a search on your behalf.

• PayPal is a free and secure on-line credit card processing company.  To use PayPal to submit a Book Stumper, you'll need to open an account with PayPal and then send money from your account to mine. • You may also choose to send the $2 by check, money order, or even cash.  I'll post your Book Stumper the Monday following receipt of your payment.

• There's no guarantee that your Book Stumper will be solved.  The fee is for posting your Book Stumper and commentaries on the site, not for finding the book.  But your search will remain on the Stumpers page until we're sure it's solved.  If several suggestions are presented, please email me to confirm which is correct, or to inform me that none are yet correct.
• If your book stumper is solved and Loganberry Books can find you a copy, your $2 stumper fee is deductable from the purchase price of the book.
