New Stump the Bookseller format! (BETA testing)

Thank you for your patience.  We’ve been thinking long and hard how to make Stump the Bookseller a better and easier site to use.  We finally decided not to entirely reinvent the wheel, but to use WordPress, the familiar blog software, to help us create a more user-friendly, searchable, and spam-free site.  We’ve got lots of queries in the backlog to get posted, and we’ll post those for free while we’re still working out the kinks.  We welcome your comments and feedback!  Thanks for being such wonderful book-loving sleuths and helping reconnect people to their cherished book memories!

I thought no one else remembered the Beany Malone books! I am 56 & still read them, sometimes…nostalgia…I admit I did not like “Come Back Wherever You Are” because it was so depressing. Sounded like a different author. A bookseller once told me there were 4 more Beany Malone books by a different author than Lenora Weber..true?

The new format is beautiful, and easy to read. I’ve always wondered… do stumper posters get an email or alert when someone posts a reply to their query?

I’m glad you like the new format. They don’t get an alert when someone posts a reply. Just like on the old site, it’s up to posters to keep track of their stumper and let us know know if it’s been solved.

Could you provide a simple list of unsolved entries? A table listing the date added, title and first line or two of the descriptions would work. I don’t have the patience to sort on “unsolved” and then page through many “older entries” links. The new site looks nice, but I’m afraid that items that don’t get solved immediately will be buried deep in the list and remain unsolved.

You can sort entries by choosing the “unsolved” category. Also you can search posts by keyword or browse the archives by month. I understand your concern about older posts getting buried, however they are much easier to access with the new format than they were with the older one.

I love Book Stumpers! I’ve solved several special book stumpers over the years, that have allowed me to reconnect with special books and memories. So glad you are keeping it going! Good luck with the new Beta site and I can’t wait to spend some time browsing through the Stumpers. I have a few more I’d like to post for myself. I’ve not given up on a few vague book memories!

I really don’t like the new format at all; to me it is too ‘plain’ and no longer has the various replies, which I enjoyed reading. I also liked to scroll down the long list that was previously available and keep track of certain queries I was interested in. I find the new format not user-friendly in that it takes a lot more ‘clicking’ to get anywhere.

Hoping to go back to the old style, but not expecting it. I actually hardly ever look at Loganberry anymore, and I was always checking it, hoping for new additions, before.

    Hi!
Thank you so much for this site. I described my mystery book and was given the number 124D. All three responses were helpful and I’ve ordered the book online. Feels great to have my mystery solved. Thank you to you and your sleuths!
    Warmly,
    Emily
