The boys referred to a basketball while they were practicing and playing, saying things like, &#8220;Pass me the eggplant&#8221; or &#8220;Throw the eggplant.&#8221; They were trying to persuade farmers to plant eggplants, I think, and maybe trying to get publicity for the town.
