I so enjoyed reading this book in grade school (mid to late\u00a01960’s).\u00a0 It was about a young girl whose mother or grandmother had a large boardinghouse with many renters.\u00a0 The story\u2019s timeline\u00a0may have been in the 1940’s or 1950’s (it could have been\u00a0during WWII).\u00a0 I don’t think it was based on a true story.<\/p>\n

There was either an elderly gentleman or an elderly woman who the little girl was fond of.\u00a0 Naturally, she interacted with many of the boarders.\u00a0 I remember thinking that this house was quite large with many rooms\u00a0and as a child, I wished my house was that big.\u00a0 I believed she had a friend that she walked to school with.\u00a0 Her mother may have been a WWII widow, as I\u00a0don’t recall her having a father.<\/p>\n

I don’t know what it was that drew me into this\u00a0story as much as it did,\u00a0if it was the story-line or the many characters or if it was the girl herself, I’m not sure.\u00a0 What I do know is that fifty years have passed and even now, at age 57, I still think about this little girl and\u00a0her\u00a0boarders.\u00a0 It must have been a wonderful tale for me to still think\u00a0about it after all these years and more importantly, to ask for help – to help me solve this mystery, as it is.<\/p>\n
