This book I am looking for is about a pound that has all different kinds of dogs in it waiting all day for their new master to come get them.\u00a0 As the day goes on one by one a person shows up that looks identical to one of the dogs in the pound and that dog gets to go.\u00a0 The book is from the perspective of one dog in particular and as every person shows up the dog says \u201c are you my master?\u201d or something like that \u201cAre you my guy?\u201d or \u201cis this my guy?\u201d and each time it\u2019s not his guy it\u2019s another dogs guy.<\/p>\n
And as the people show up one by one, as a kid, you KNOW what dog they are coming for because the person looks identical to the dog.<\/p>\n
The day goes on and on and it\u2019s finally dark, they are closing, and this one dog who is narrating is the only dog left.\u00a0 No one has come for him and he is all alone and very sad.\u00a0 Finally just as they are closed, HIS GUY, or HIS BOY, shows up and they are identical looking and the dog and the boy are overjoyed that they have found each other and he gets to go home with the boy.<\/p>\n
It is driving me crazy that I can\u2019t remember the name of this book or how to find it.\u00a0 I am 53 so it was probably written in the 1960s.<\/p>\n
