It was about squirrels and other animals in the forest. But squirrels were the stars.<\/p>\n<p>Each page had maybe two short paragraph\u2019s worth of words &#8211; maybe three sentences each.\u00a0 Each page had illustrations too.\u00a0 It was the first book that looked to me like a \u201creal\u201d book, not a children\u2019s read-to-by-an-adult book.\u00a0 It was a book I could read, meant to be read by me in solitude.<\/p>\n<p>I read it over and over. I just remember the squirrels, the brownish-orange of the cover, the lovely large print, but not so large that there weren\u2019t paragraphs. The squirrels were very happy\u00a0 in their forest lives; I was so happy in my reading life.<\/p>\n<p>Not much to go on, that\u2019s for sure. I just paid my four dollars, though.
