Wearing My Weird: In the Great White North
Especially in Canada, where even the money is called
“Loony.”
Journey with me as I share my own personal story about what
it’s like growing up always feeling a little different. You
can move from one country to another, but no matter how far
you travel, you can never escape from the true YOU.
Hey, take it from me. I tried. In these stories you’ll meet
real characters from my childhood who were also delightfully
strange. That includes my little sister, Mom and Dad, a few
quirky friends, my Nana and Soupy, and a big fat cat called
Bingo. Yes, life is weird. And there’s one thing I learned
growing up:It just keeps getting weirder.
And I guess so do I.
Wearing My Weird: Journey Begins
It's hard when you have to say goodbye to your best friends,
your school, and even your dearest pets - when your parents
decide it's time to move someplace new. It's hard enough
moving from one side of town to the other… but imagine what
it would be like moving to a whole other country? Now THAT
is weird. And it's really tough, too.
Change can be exciting, and change can be scary. But mostly
change just makes life insanely weird… and all you want at
that point is for things to just be normal again. Journey
with me in this book to experience the excitement, the
weird, and the wonder of facing my family's decision to move
from Canada to the States.
Wearing My Weird: In the U.S. of A
Moving from Canada to North Carolina brought many lessons,
including making new friends, learning to ask “what kind of
meat is this?” before eating, and how to deal with
disappointment. But the most important lesson learned was:
No matter how far you travel, your “weird” travels with
you.
This book takes you on a journey with Wendy as she discovers
her first steps toward self acceptance, awareness, and
understanding. At the same time, she experiences culture
shock during her first year living in the South. Everything
about this new environment is alien to her, and she feels a
little like an alien herself while she tries to adjust, and
begins to wonder if she will ever find a place where she
“fits in.”

Murder On The Lunatic Fringe
The news is as slow as the lazy, final days of summer in
Jubilant Falls when editor Addison McIntyre drives out tothe
Lunatic Fringe farm, to interview Russian-born Ekaterina
Bolodenka for a story on her award-winning weaving and the
llamas and alpacas she raises there.
But there's something about farm manager Jerome Johnson that Addison doesn't trust, particularly when she-or the police-can't verify anything about either's past.
Meanwhile, crime reporter Graham Kinnon is on the trail of white supremacists that may be moving into the county. One in particular may have answers to Graham's fractured past-or his future.
When animals are mutilated and Jerome is murdered, the quest is on to solve the murder on the Lunatic Fringe.
Lethal Little Lies
Times are tough in the newspaper business these days. In
between staff cuts, furloughs and declining advertising
dollars, Jubilant Falls Journal-Gazette editor Addison
McIntyre hasn't got time to listen when candidate Rick
Starrett claims his opponent Virginia Ferguson ran a dirty
state senate campaign. Short on staff, time and patience,
she can't waste time on sore losers--then Virginia Ferguson
is shot.
As she dies, names Rick Starrett as the man who pulled the trigger. That gets Addison's attention. To further complicate things, Kay Henning, the wife of reporter Marcus Henning, has come up missing and believed to be in danger. Did she leave of her own accord or was she kidnapped?
Is there something that ties these two events together? Who's telling the truth? And who is telling what could be lethal little lies?
This is the third title in Debra Gaskill's Jubilant Falls series.

Cleveland Goes Modern: Design For The Home,
1930-1970
Based on the award-winning exhibition of the same name,
Cleveland Goes Modern: Design for the Home, 1930–1970, examines Modern movement houses in greater Cleveland
within the context of American Modernism as a whole. The
authors demonstrate that understanding and contextualizing
this regional domestic architecture, along with the
practitioners and clients who created it, makes a valuable
contribution to the larger study of architecture and the
Modern period as well as of the region’s architectural
history.
Beautifully illustrated with more than 150 drawings and photographs in color and black-and-white, the book features the work of six architects: Don Hisaka, John Terence Kelly, Robert Little, William Morris, Ernst Payer, and Fred Toguchi. In their own words, the architects, clients, and restorers discuss the homes they created and preserved. Cleveland Goes Modern also documents other modernists who practiced during this period and the role they played. It examines how the modernist sensibility and tradition survives and thrives in national and local twenty-first-century architects. Functioning as both a historical overview and a gazetteer of significant examples, Cleveland Goes Modern makes a compelling case for preserving the works of architecture from the period.
Some of the homes featured in the book have been torn down since the project began; others may be altered or disappear in the future. Cleveland Goes Modern makes a lasting contribution to the study of architecture, one that will serve students and scholars of architectural history for generations after these singular structures no longer exist.

Western College for Women
Western Female Seminary, the first daughter institution of
Mount Holyoke College, opened its doors in 1855 as a
Christian institution. The seminary, which became Western
College for Women, was founded on the Mt. Holyoke plan, with
a strong emphasis on academics. Many of its graduates in the
19th century served as home and foreign missionaries, and by
the 20th century, young women from many foreign countries
attended Western. In the 1950s, the curriculum was expanded
to include a strong international emphasis. Western was the
first college in the country to have an artist-in-residence,
when composer Edgar Stillman Kelley was invited to live on
campus. Western attracted national attention when it hosted
civil rights training for Freedom Summer 1964. In the 1970s,
independent study programs were developed, and the college
became coeducational. With its diverse architecture and the
early emphasis on landscaping on its rolling campus, the
college was listed in the National Register of Historic
Places in 1979.

Finding Freedom: Memorializing the Voices of Freedom
Summer
provides detailed information about the Freedom Summer
Monument on the campus of Western College at Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio. The monument, dedicated in 2000,
commemorates Wester's role in Freedom Summer and
memorializes James Chaney, Michael Schwerner, and Andrew
Goodman, the Freedom Summer trainees subsequently murdered
in Mississippi, whose deaths focused national and world
attention on the continuing existence of segregation and
violent racism in the U.S. The book contains essays from
participants in the 1964 training sessions at Western
College, including essays by Oxford residents who supported
the Friends of the Mississippi Project; monument architect
Robert Keller; a poem by Miami University alumna Rita Dove;
and period photographs by photographer George Hoxie.

The Natural Order of Things
From a startling new voice in American fiction comes a dark,
powerful novel about a tragic city and its inhabitants over
the course of one Halloween weekend. Set in a decaying
Midwestern urban landscape, with its goings-on and entire
atmosphere dominated and charged by one Jesuit prep school
and its students, parents, faculty, and alumni, the story is
a window into the human condition. From the opening chapter
and its story of the doomed quarterback, Frank McSweeney,
aka The Minotaur, for whom prayers prove not enough, to the
end, wherein the school's former headmaster is betrayed by
his peers in the worst way possible, we see people and their
oddness and ambitions laid out bare before us.

Summer of Shadows
An intertwining narrative that tells the story of the 1954
Cleveland Indians (which would etch itself in history as one
of the greatest baseball teams in MLB history) and the
infamous murder of the wife of Dr. Sam Sheppard in their
home along the shore of Lake Erie — which held both the city
and the nation spellbound that summer. Both of these
generation-defining stories take place in the final days of
the "Best Location in the Nation," the nickname for the
Cleveland of the 1950s, which truly was one of the great and
most influential cities in America. These two parallel
tragedies harbinger an onslaught of adversity that dragged
Cleveland from its lofty standing as a leading American city
to one with a bleak — even comic — reputation.
Kardiac Kids
A heart-pounding journey through the most exciting season in
Cleveland Browns’ history.
Every longtime Cleveland sports fan knows about “Red Right 88,” the play that ended the Browns’ 1980 season. Quarterback Brian Sipe’s ill-fated throw, intended for tight end Ozzie Newsome, was intercepted by Oakland in the end zone, bringing to a halt Cleveland’s “kardiac” campaign.
In Kardiac Kids Jonathan Knight paints a portrait of the Browns’ storybook 1980 season and its impact on the city of Cleveland. Knight takes us through that unforgettable year from beginning to end, describing in great detail how the city simply fell in love with this team.
Though the Cleveland Browns boast four world championships and possess a rich and respected past, the magical 1980 season was clearly the most memorable in team history. Kardiac Kids is a tribute to that team.
The Browns Bible
The essential guide to every game in Browns history.
Every Sunday in autumn, a new chapter is written in the long and storied history of the Cleveland Browns. Win or lose, with each contest, the mythos of this beloved franchise is extended and enriched in the hearts of the sport’s most loyal fans.
The team has played nearly one thousand games over the past eight decades, and The Browns Bible tells the tale of each one. Through individual game stories and box scores, it encapsulates every victory, every defeat, every touchdown from 1946 to the present. The most comprehensive account of the Cleveland Browns ever written, The Browns Bible narrates the legend of this cherished franchise season by season and week by week as it gradually wove itself into the fabric of the city’s culture—starting with its dominance of the All-America Football Conference and continuing through the glory years of the 1950s, the Kardiac Kids and Dog Pound eras, and the franchise’s rebirth in the twenty-first century.
Sundays In The Pound
A look at the last championship seasons of the Browns.
Before Art Modell moved the team to Baltimore, and before the frustrating expansion years and countless front office mistakes of the twenty-first century, there were the Browns of the late 1980s. The years 1985 to 1989 saw the Cleveland Browns explode out of a decade and a half of inconsistency and mediocrity to win four American Football Conference Central Division titles and make the playoffs five straight years. Twice they came within inches of a Super Bowl appearance, led by an unforgettable cast of characters Cleveland embraced and still cherishes. These teams are perhaps the most memorable in the history of Cleveland professional sports. Sundays in the Pound traces quarterback Bernie Kosar’s winding path from Youngstown to Florida to Cleveland, explains why there was so much more to running back Earnest Byner than one unforgotten fumble, and reveals how cornerback Hanford Dixon created a canine phenomenon in the endzone stands that has persevered to this day. Author Jonathan Knight delves into “the Drive” and “the Fumble”; examines the fairy-tale performance of an aging veteran quarterback who directed the Browns through the snow and into the playoffs in his final game at the old, cavernous Cleveland Stadium on Lake Erie’s shoreline; and recounts an epic playoffs saga in which the Browns staged one of the greatest comebacks in the history of Cleveland sports.
Cleveland Browns fans throughout the country fondly remember the “Dawg Days,” and they will welcome Sundays in the Pound.
Classic Browns
Classic Browns counts down the fifty greatest
Cleveland Browns games, from unexpected upsets to incredible
comebacks to titanic championship battles. The rich,
six-decade history of the Browns is layered into these
tales, tying together the gritty All-American Football
Conference games played in the shadow of World War II to the
sleek Sunday battles at shimmering Cleveland Browns Stadium
today. Sure to spark interest and debate,
Classic Browns will appeal to Browns fans
everywhere.
Classic Tribe
Classic Tribe counts down the fifty greatest
Cleveland Indians games, from wild ninth-inning comebacks to
dazzling pitching performances to spellbinding playoff
encounters. The storied history of Cleveland’s endearing
baseball franchise is sprinkled throughout these tales, from
weekday matinees at cozy League Park at the dawn of the
twentieth century to unforgettable autumn nights at Jacobs
Field.

Promise of Blood
It’s a bloody business overthrowing a king…
Field Marshal Tamas’ coup against his king sent corrupt
aristocrats to the guillotine and brought bread to the
starving. But it also provoked war with the Nine Nations,
internal attacks by royalist fanatics, and the greedy to
scramble for money and power by Tamas’s supposed allies: the
Church, workers unions, and mercenary forces.
It’s up to a few…
Stretched to his limit, Tamas is relying heavily on his few
remaining powder mages, including the embittered Taniel, a
brilliant marksman who also happens to be his estranged son,
and Adamat, a retired police inspector whose loyalty is
being tested by blackmail.
But when gods are involved…
Now, as attacks batter them from within and without, the
credulous are whispering about omens of death and
destruction. Just old peasant legends about the gods waking
to walk the earth. No modern educated man believes that sort
of thing. But they should…
The Crimson Campaign
When invasion looms, but the threats are closer to home…Who
will lead the charge?
Tamas’ invasion of Kez ends in disaster when a Kez counter-offensive leaves him cut off behind enemy lines with only a fraction of his army, no supplies, and no hope of reinforcements. Drastically outnumbered and pursued by the enemy’s best, he must lead his men on a reckless march through northern Kez to safety, and back over the mountains so that he can defend his country from an angry god, Kresimir.
In Adro, Inspector Adamat only wants to rescue his wife. To do so he must track down and confront the evil Lord Vetas. He has questions for Vetas concerning his enigmatic master, but the answers might lead to more questions.
Tamas’ generals bicker among themselves, the brigades lose ground every day beneath the Kez onslaught, and Kresimir wants the head of the man who shot him in the eye. With Tamas and his powder cabal presumed dead, Taniel Two-shot finds himself as the last line of defense against Kresimir’s advancing army.

The Breath of Rapture
One day, different from no other, millions of people vanish
in the blink of an eye. Cars wreck, planes crash and the
disappearance of key figures in international government
throw the world into chaos. The end seems near. But an eerie
peace descends upon the planet. It's a peace that is
unnatural and unexpected as the event itself. Skeptical and
full of misgiving, those left behind are forced to accept
that the Rapture of Biblical prophecy has occurred. But,
there's something far bigger and far more interesting afoot.
"The Change" and the aftermath are witnessed by life
partners, Chris Neal and Keith Tennant. They rescue and
befriend Holly Attwood, cop and Mom. It's a meeting that
will have a lifelong impact on them all. Meanwhile, recently
engaged Jen Taylor and Ty Richards are hiking a canyon in
Tucson, Arizona. They too come to the aid of a stranger in
an equally fateful meeting on this momentous day. Reporter,
philosopher, poet and misfit Ed Harris begins to put
together the pieces of what becomes known as "The Change",
and in doing so, debunks traditional belief systems and
values. In a series of thoughtful and thought provoking
dialogs, the real truth emerges. Timely and thought
provoking.

Finally, Mama says it’s time to go to the park, the one with real dirt — and while Mama and the baby sit on the boring bench, Phoebe and Digger happily build and knock down and dig things up. That is, until a big girl comes by, a kid with mean teeth and grabby hands. Phoebe tries everything she can, but what if she never gets Digger back? Comical illustrations and a spot-on story are sure to make readers of all ages smile in recognition.
What Happened on Fox Street?
Fox Street was a dead end.
In Mo Wren’s opinion, this was only one of many wonderful things about it. Mo’s lived her whole life on Fox Street and can’t imagine anything ever changing—until one unforgettable summer of alarming letters, mysterious errands, and surprising discoveries…
Mo Wren: Lost & Found
This is the story of what happened after Fox Street.
Mo Wren knew that eventually she, her dad, and her sister, Wild Child Dottie, would have to move from beloved Fox Street. She just never expected it to happen so soon.
At the Wrens’ new place, things are very different. The name of the street—East 213th—has absolutely zero magic. And there’s no Mrs. Petrone to cut her hair, no Pi Baggott to teach her how to skateboard, no Green Kingdom to explore. She’s having trouble fitting in at her new school and spending a lot of time using the corner bus shelter for her Thinking Spot. Worst of all, Mo discovers that the ramshackle restaurant Mr. Wren bought is cursed. Only Dottie, with her new friends and pet lizard, Handsome, is doing the dance of joy.
For the first time in her life, Mo feels lost and out of place. It’s going to take a boy who tells whoppers, a Laundromat with a mysterious owner, a freak blizzard, and some courage to help her find her way home for good.

The Midwife's Tale
It is 1644, and Parliament’s armies have risen against the
King and laid siege to the city of York. Even as the city
suffers at the rebels’ hands, midwife Bridget Hodgson
becomes embroiled in a different sort of rebellion. One of
Bridget’s friends, Esther Cooper, has been convicted of
murdering her husband and sentenced to be burnt alive.
Convinced that her friend is innocent, Bridget sets out to
find the real killer.
Bridget joins forces with Martha Hawkins, a servant who’s far more skilled with a knife than any respectable woman ought to be. To save Esther from the stake, they must dodge rebel artillery, confront a murderous figure from Martha’s past, and capture a brutal killer who will stop at nothing to cover his tracks. The investigation takes Bridget and Martha from the homes of the city’s most powerful families to the alleyways of its poorest neighborhoods. As they delve into the life of Esther’s murdered husband, they discover that his ostentatious Puritanism hid a deeply sinister secret life, and that far too often tyranny and treason go hand in hand.
The Midwife's Tale
It is August, 1645, one year since York fell into Puritan
hands. As the city suffers through a brutal summer heat,
Bridget Hodgson and Martha Hawkins are drawn into a murder
investigation more frightening than their last. In order to
appease God’s wrath—and end the heat-wave—the city’s
overlords have launched a brutal campaign to whip the city’s
sinners into godliness. But for someone in York, this is not
enough. First a prostitute and her client are found stabbed
to death, then a pair of adulterers are beaten and
strangled. York’s sinners have been targeted for execution.
Bridget and Martha—assisted once again by Will, Bridget’s good-hearted nephew—race to find the killer even as he adds more bodies to his tally. The list of suspects is long: Hezekiah Ward, a fire and brimstone preacher new to York; Ward’s son, Praise-God, whose intensity mirrors his father’s; John Stubb, one of Ward’s fanatic followers, whose taste for blood may not have been sated by his time in Parliament’s armies. Or could the killer be closer to home? Will’s brother Joseph is no stranger to death, and he shares the Wards’ dreams of driving sin from the city.
To find the killer, Bridget, Martha, and Will must uncover the city’s most secret sins, and hope against hope that the killer does not turn his attention in their direction.

unleashed their most base impulses using axes, guns, poison

with her husband. Ellen Athey—no lady herself—wielded an axe

argue that she was just a good businesswoman. Grim? Often.
Entertaining? Deliciously so.
