I’m looking for a children’s book my mother always took out of the library in the 70s. Unfortunately, I don’t have very much information on it. What I do know is that its about a bear that woke up from its hibernation too early so that it was still winter. She was reading it in the 70s so it would have needed to be published prior to this.
I have since learned that the little bear meets other animals, and spends time with them until his mother comes to find him and bring him home. There may also be a scene in which he tries to cover himself in leaves in order to stay warm. Thanks!
Possibly ‘A Bear Can Hibernate – Why can’t I?” by Ruth van Ness Blair, pub 1972.
A bear on a bed of leaves is continually disturbed from its hibernation, by a child, and other animals. Not a baby bear, though.
