357F: Wizard vs. Seriously Overgrown Plant

I’m looking for a short story that was published in a compilation of sci-fi stories, probably somewhere between 1995-2005. Sci-fi short story was about wizard and a plant that was taking over the earth. The wizard was trying to kill the plant to save the world, but no matter what he tried, he couldn’t do anything about the plant and it ended up taking over the world. Wizard also had a globe or orb that was an exact replica of the earth. The orb displayed live and the wizard could zoom in and see anything and anyone and what they were doing. The only thing that didn’t show up on the globe was the globe.

357E: Female Protagonist, Brooding Vampire

I’m trying to find a book I read in the late 1990s, early 2000s. The parts of the plot I remember are as follows:
1. The main character is a female journalist who at one point is cornered in an alley by a would-be rapist but manages to escape. I think she let the attacker fondle her breasts before kicking him in the groin and escaping.
2. The vampire love interest is brooding, and at one point watches the heroine from outside her house. I have a vague memory of him being described as wearing a long leather jacket.
3. I think there’s some kind of crime element? Like she’s a crime reporter or something like that.
4. The journalist lives alone and has a pet cat.
I think it was a paperback, and it had a film noir sort of vibe to my pre-teen self. I’ve thoroughly scoured the vampire genre on https://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/, but can’t find something that seems to fit.

I’m looking to find a book from my childhood, and have now been through hundreds of internet pages. Hoping you might have a lead! All I remember really is:

- illustrated color paperback picture book, probably c. Late ‘60s- late ‘90s

- story about a group of siblings moving into or visiting a castle? Maybe just an old house with a tower

- a unicorn from a tapestry comes to life, and he is white with a beard. The children bring him down out of the tapestry.

Things I’m not sure of but seem familiar:

-something about a yellow bedroom

- maybe an illustration with one of the children looking behind the tapestry

Thank you! The Magic Tree house has a story with some similar elements, but that’s not quite it.

356M: A Baby May Climb Mount Everest Someday

Looking for a children's Picture book. Guessing it was published between 1990-2015. It's about a baby and the very last page mentions Mt Everest. MAYBE the big brother is narrating - like my baby brother will do XXX when he grows up. Hopefully this is enough! I saw it ONCE in a library - my good friend who climbed Mt. Everest is pregnant I want to get her this book! 🙂 HELP.

This is about a two-book series that was likely written between 1975 and 1999. The survivors of a planet lived on a narrow inhabitable strip of the planet. On both sides there were less habitable areas. On one side lived mutants who were like vampires and werewolves. In the strip lived the main characters in a town, one a strongman, one a mind reader whose wife was a healer and operated a clinic, one a blind woman who could see the future. There were several towns. The mind reader has a female child whose skin changed colors and also had a son. The leader of the werewolves had a son who killed those living in the town where the main characters lived. When the blind woman got her sight back temporarily, she lost the ability to see the future. The healer’s wife died near the end of the book and the mind reader decided to move to another town where his children had previously moved.
