I’m pretty certain it was published before 90’s. As I remember each page spread was devoted to a wacky nonsense invention with rhyming description(I believe they were tongue twisters as well) and was illustrated showing the invention. I think there was an invention for each letter.
This is a more recent book (2003), but it might be worth looking into: Stink Stoppers! (Ingenious Inventions for Pesky Problems) by Andrea Perry, illustrated by Alan Snow. Includes inventions like the Crumbunny, the Super Spider Spotter, and the Tooth Fairy Forklift. “How many times has this happened to you? You’re late for the school bus and you can’t find a shoe. It might take you hours unless you have got the Sure-footed Shoe Finder there on the spot.”
that’s not it, but thanks.
I’m still trying to dig though my boxes of old books but still no luck.
We have a book similar to that called The Book of Foolish Machinery by Donna Lugg Pape. Scholastic, 1988.
That’s it. Thanks
