My brother and I are searching for a childhood book. I remember having the book read to me when I was two, so about 1957. It was a story about a nun who made ‘toothsome, savory oh-so delicious pancakes.” I don not remember the title, nor the author. It was a picture book. Not much to go on, but I will not give up, lol.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Virginia Kahl, The Perfect Pancake. It’s a duchess, not a nun, but she does wear a wimple.
Maybe The Perfect Pancake by Virginia Kahl? The cook is not a nun but she does wear a large mobcap. There are pictures at the link if you want to see if they jog your memory.
A perfectly marvelous cook had one fault — she would give the townspeople only one delicious pancake each until a beggar came to town and tricked the cook into giving him more, a secret he shared with the rest.

Right, not the duchess this time–I was thinking of her stirring her cake.
And if anyone can remember the title of the pre-1977 elementary reader textbook that included the first half or so of that book, PLEASE tell me – I’ve been hunting for ages! (The illustrations were distinctly different.)
