I am long looking for my childhood Story Book. My birth year is 1947. I do not know if mom had this book previous to my birth. The cover is gone. So are the first 16 pages. No index, no contents. But, on the upside, I have [a few pictures] of the story beginning and some illustrations. I would love to purchase one or more of these books if it could be identified.

I googled the two titles shown and came up with “Nursery Tales: A Golden Storytime Book.”
You are correct. I read the contents from a 1967 printing and it matched exactly ( to what I have left ) of the 1948 printing. However, it seems the 1963 printing is entirely different. Now, I’m trying to locate a nice condition of the book to purchase. Thank you so much for your assist and you did it within a couple hours of the post. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the help!! I wish that Loganberry Books would have this.
We do conduct book searches here at Loganberry, Jim. Also the fee for your stumper can be used towards the purchase of said book.
Thanks so much Christine. I now have Nursery Tales: A Golden Storytime Book.” by Elsa Jane Werner. I found that the near exact printings are 1948, 1957 & 1967.
You are my hero!
I shared this information with brother who is now watching for a copy to purchase.

I’m so glad! 🙂
It might help your search for the book if you also look under “The Golden Book of Nursery Tales.” That is what my copy is called. It also says “A Big Golden Book” at the bottom of the front cover. It is the 1948 printing and is edited by Elsa Jane Werner and illustrated by Tibor Gergely. Unfortunately, it is a difficult book to find – especially in good condition – and tends to be rather expensive. Those pages you included in your request are indeed in this book, and look exactly the same as the ones pictured.
