I’m looking for a sci-fi storybook, probably from the early ’80s. I remember it as similar in tone to The Black Hole, but that’s definitely not it.
The only scene that sticks out is that at the end, someone is tied up with energy whips or ropes that looked like curved lightsabers.
Oops! I got cut off! Here’s the full text of my question…
I’m looking for a sci-fi storybook from no later than 1984. I remember it as similar in tone to The Black Hole, but that’s definitely not it. I’m pretty sure it was a read along storybook but I may be combining memories.
The only scene that sticks out is the end: I believe a bearded bad guy is captured and tied up with something that looked like curved lightsabers: Energy whips or laser rings or cosmic ropes or some such. And since the base/ship/whatever is going to self-destruct, I think the good guys are forced to leave the bad guy to die. It definitely creeped me out as a kid.
If the read-along memory is true, then this story was on one side of the tape, and on the other side was a separate story that I think had to do with dinosaurs and a floating protective bubble. What really stands out about that one was an electronic theme song that sounded somewhere between the Doctor Who theme and the intro to Elton John’s Funeral For a Friend. Very Moog-ish.
Thanks for your help!
