My sister and I have been always on the lookout for a book that was hers and then mine which was about a birthday girl waking up on her birthday and with a bluebird on her windowsill I believe and the story follows her day. She receives a glockenspiel as a gift.
It’s possibly a Golden Book or Wonder Book and she would have had it in the late 1950’s.
I think I too am searching for the same book you are. My grandma use to read me a book just as you described. I didn’t remember the glockenspiel part however. All I remember is a girl waking up with a bluebird on her windowsill. I think the girl’s room was light pink and then the sky and bird were light blue…that one page/image is what I remember most about the book. I would love to find this book.
In “Beth’s Happy Day” by Phyllis Ochocki (a Rand McNally Elf Book) a little girl wakes up to a bird outside her window on her birthday. She spends the day helping out neighbors and has a party with a cake at the end. I don’t remember a glockenspiel, though. There is a Golden Book called “Gordon and the Glockenspiel”- is it possibly you are conflating the two books?
Here’s a link that shows a picture of her waking up to the bird…

Both my sister and I remember the same story and it was definitely about a girl and her birthday day and receiving a glockenspiel. I remember the first page the most and it was of the little girl sitting in her bed and looking at a blue bird in her window sill. Beth’s Happy Day was darn close, but not it. Thanks so much for replying your suggestions though!
