“The Illustrated Treasury of Children’s Literature,” copyright 1955. Huge blue hardback that came in a cardboard box.
This must be ‘The Illustrated Treasury of Children’s Literature,’ edited by Margaret E. Martignoni and published by Grosset and Dunlap. I just checked my copy, and every poem and story listed is included in this book – along with a lot more! The book was first published in 1955 and the older editions do have the blue cover like this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/741429.The_Illustrated_Treasury_of_Children_s_Literature
More recent editions have a yellow pictorial cover:https://p.gr-assets.com/200×200/scale/books/1394598154/21432361.jpg
This sounds like Margaret Martignoni (ed.) Illustrated Treasury of Children’s Literature; 1955
Yes, thank you all so much! I have been looking for this book for several years now. It was my mothers when she was little and she read it to my siblings and I when we were children. I am so excited to get to read it with my children now (instead of just telling them what I can recite from memory). Thanks again
