I’m searching for this book for a friend so I don’t have much of a description. Here’s what she remembers;
The character is a mouse that is looking for a house. The circle house blows away in a storm. There’s something unsatisfactory about the corners in the triangle house.
That’s it. I hope it’s enough!
Could this be Petr Horacek: A New House for Mouse?
Thank you for this suggestion! I talked to the gal who is looking for the book and she told me a little more. She was familiar with A New House for Mouse and says her book had simpler illustrations and seemed to be about teaching basic shapes. I’m going to amend the book description a bit to add what she told me.
The person looking for the book is 22 years old so it could be fairly new but probably published before the year 2000. She says she remembers a storm that blew away the circle house and the triangle house having too many angles. It had simple illustrations.
Perhaps “Moose, Goose, and Little Nobody”? by Ellen Raskin
I got this book from the Weekly Reader book club in the late 70’s. A mouse is in the tiny “roof” of his house and a moose and a goose find all sorts of “wrong” houses to put him on until they find his house with his Mother. I recently got this book back from my mom and am now reading it to my daughter!!

This sounds a lot like Moose, Goose, and Little Nobody by my favorite author, Ellen Raskin.
The Mouse Book. Contains Mouse is Looking For a House and Mouse Finds a Friend.
