Is it Good Times Today and Tomorrow? It has a blue and orange cover and was part of a reading series in WV at that time. It was authored by Arthur I. Gates and Celeste Comegys Peardon and was published by The MacMillan Co. In 1951. It has the Indian Brave on the cover but not the monkey. But I think the monkey story might be within the book. It was published in 1951 by the Macmillan Co. and it is the reading book that would have been used in WV schools during this time period. You might be able to find a copy on Amazon.com.
