Hi and thank you. It is a children’s book that my mom read with me in the early 70s. Its pages are full illustrations with a fair amount of text on each. It is about an elf or fairy or pixie. . . my mom and I cannot recall anything else except that he goes to bed on a snowy night in a tree or nut on an amazing bed of milkweed.
Any help is appreciated.
Perhaps it is Zeee by Elizabeth Enright illustrated by Irene Haas.

A Home for Tandy by Audrey and Harvey Hirsch:
This book details the journey of a young elf named Tandy in search of a home. He tries in vain to share the homes of other forest creatures (a beaver, a mole) but none are quite the right fit for him. Finally the animals of the forest build a home for Tandy as a surprise, and on the final page he is nestled in his milkweed pod bed, just in time for the first snow.
