I’m looking for a book I read I as a teen in the 60s called My Lady, My Love. No idea who wrote it. It is about a king whose wife died. He was so distraught that he didn’t want another queen. The kingdom needed a queen so he married a baby. (Not in a creepy way). He figured by the time she grew up, he would be over his wife.
The king is Richard II of England, and the author was Gladys Malvern. Richard’s first wife, Anne of Bohemia, died unexpectedly, and he married secondly Isabel of Valois, who was six years old at the time. After his death, she returned to France and married her cousin, Charles of Orleans, the famous poet, and had one daughter, Jeanne/Joan.
The one by Gladys Malvern?

thought I’d said! Yes, this one specifically IS MY LADY, MY LOVE, by Gladys Malvern. Check Amazon for it. It’s a matter of historical record that while Richard died well before Isabel grew up, they were very good friends and very fond of each other, and their marriage would probably have been a happy one.
Thank you all. I knew the title but had no clue who wrote it. Hope I can find it.
Thank you all for the author. It was one of my favorite childhood books.
