I remember reading this book in the late 80's and I think it was the 2nd book in a series. The only details I really remember of it are: 1. The boy had to fake his death in the beginning (involving a bus) and move to another town. 2. He had special powers and could turn invisible 3. He kept having premonitions about upcoming events. 4. One of the premonitions involved lightning during a little league baseball game. I also think the planet he came from was something like Altair or another "A" name.
Was it a novel, or a story in an anthology? It sounds like one of the stories in Children of Infinity edited by Roger Elwood.
I am Number Four
It was a stand-alone book. I checked out Children of Infinity and it wasn’t that.
It’s not I Am Number Four either. I read this book back in the late 80′ or early 90’s.
I do remember it was on the same shelf in the local library as William Sleator’s books (House of Stairs, Interstellar Pig) so I’ve been looking for authors with surnames beginning in the back half of the alphabet.
Thanks for the suggestions though.
This sounds a little like The Meq by Steve Cash (not really as I dug in, but it triggered some memory that I have read this book), also I just checked the publication date and it’s not old enough (2005). However, I feel like I know this book! I’m going through my shelves and will check back if I find this one for you!!
I believe that I found it. The book I was looking for is called The Seer by G. Clifton Wisler. It’s the 2nd book of The Antrian Series. Thanks a ton for all the suggestions though!
