304S: Her body had healing properties (Solved)

I only remember a character. It was an old woman and her body had healing properties. I think it was ground down to a powder and used topically on wounds. She gave the main character her pinky finger and her other hand had already reduced to a stump. It wasn’t a gory process. She just broke it off as if it were stone.

This rings a bell but I’ll never to think about it. She didn’t mind giving up her arm. It was if it was a calling. The person she had to heal was selfish, and didn’t really believe he was in this alternate fantasy universe. Its not an old book because I read it in the last few years but I just checked my good reads list and it’s not ringing a bell. Did the women wear a headscarf? Could it have been Thomas Covenant the unbeliever. I don’t know why I’m thinking about leprosy. Maybe I’m getting mixed up.

I think this is a character in the last book of Ransom Riggs “Mrs. Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” series, “The Library of Souls”. Her body can be ground to a chalky powder, which both heals wounds and can be used to put people in stasis. She had used it so much (before we met her) that her one hand was completely gone, and she did give one of her fingers to the protagonist before he left on a dangerous mission.
