The book I want to know about is an early-to-mid-90’s R.L. Stine wannabe type book about a boy who suspects that his new friend is a vampire. There’s a bit about pizza and garlic I know. I want to say the paperback version I had had a yellow spine/layout.

These books are right in the ballpark I am talking about, but I don’t think it’s either of them. In the book I submitted, the vampire is the same age as the kid who comes to suspect his friend is a vampire.

You could try Overnight Bite by Carol Ellis. There are vampire kids and garlic pizza.
