Hi! I'm trying to find a school book from the late '60's or very early 70's. Probably a second grade reader but I'm not certain. It has multiple stories and the one I remember is about a married couple of pigs trying to sell their house. Each animal that comes to look at it suggests something they would like changed about the house. The pigs change each thing and by the end of the story they don't want to sell their house anymore. Does anyone remember this book? It was read with the classic Dick and Jane books for sure.
I am in desperate search of a book for my dear British friend. She grew up in Suffolk, England, born in 1958, and remembers a book she used to pour over as a girl:
Possible title: A Place of Your Own
Contents: pictures and descriptions of homes, rooms, treehouses and places where children (and maybe young adults) escape to be kids
Publication Dates: at least published by 1972
Location: read in Suffolk, England
The book I am looking for is about a couple who decides they want a better house and they will sell theirs and move. But to sell it they must fix it up. They then proceed to fix it up (the garden, new paint, etc.). At the end their current house is so lovely that they decide its what they wanted all along and decide to stay.
I read it in the mid 80s at my grandmas house.
I would be delighted if you could solve my mystery
Looking for a children’s book about people who live on same street. Each one of them breaks the mold of their boring houses and the end of the street is a collection of fantastical and amazing houses.
Each time someone changes their house, someone says, “He’s popped his top! He’s flipped his lid!”
That’s all I can remember other than loving the book.
I am looking for a children's chapter book. The plot involves children whose house is able to float and they float down a river on it. This was a chapter book from the 1970’s or 1980’s. I don’t think it was a houseboat but rather their actual house was put on a raft, but my memory could be wrong. Thank you!!
Here’s what I’m looking for … a children’s book about a boy who builds a house, step by step (NOT “The House That Jack Built).
The 2 details he clearly remembers are “…a little bit of paint on/in his ear” … and the fact that bandits move in, using his house as a hideaway …
Can you please help me find this book?
