Anyway the book I am looking for was a collection of children’s stories, possibly different authors and I think English and 1940s 1950s.
One story is about two children who help a dog and cat who have been enchanted and are the figureheads on a boat they find when the meadow at the end of their garden turns into a magical lake.

Back in 1979 or 1980…my parents used to read to my a book called Little Bear’s surprise. The last line of the book is “and they all had a donut party.”
I have searched everywhere and cannot find it. Would look to get a copy for my nephew.
This paperback (actually more of a pamphlet) was available in the 1960s. It contained several short stories. I believe it was blue and white. One of the stories involved a lost dog (I think it was a large black dog).
Another of the stories involved woodland creatures and lanterns in the woods. I believe there were characters named Happy & Hoppy.

I am looking for a picture book, probably published in the 40s. It was about a horse who would get its tail braided for parades. I don’t think it was a golden book, perhaps an Elf book.
I read a hardback book, in the ’70s, about a girl on a coast, Ireland or Britain, who finds a piece of jewelry, a ring or broach or a necklace (in the ruins of an ancient building maybe?) She has dreams that reveal the life of the girl who had the piece a long (centuries?) time ago. The dream girl was maybe Spanish.
There were dolphins, and an island that figured very large in the story.
It didn’t seem like a new book at the time. Looking back I would guess that it was written after ww2. It had a sad tragic feel to it.

The book is about two children who are by the sea. They eat papayas and go to an underwater kingdom where there’s a mirror that says every sentence backwards. One of the children’s names is Ricky and the king of the underwater kingdom decrees that papayas will be know as “papayas, paw paws, and Ricky Rickies”. I listened to it as an audiobook that we borrowed from Cracker Barrel sometime between 1994-2000.
Teenage girl (with red hair?) uses brass carnival ring to travel through time, possibly with teenage boy. Coney Island may be the carnival setting. I have an uncertain feeling that bicycles were involved somehow in the time travel, but I could be conflating two books.
Children or young adult historical fiction book, set during late 1800s or early 1900s. Girl is on cruise ship with silly female relative who believes in spiritualism, meets stage magician (Anton?) who smokes something distinctive (briar root? cheroot?) and teaches her how to do magic tricks. Author emphasizes logic over belief. Mystery involved? Published between 1950 and 2000, probably late 20th century.
Looking for a children’s picture book about a wand and fairy (both golden) who become lost. The reader is challenged to find both wand and fairy in real life. Rich and vibrant pictures in a large sized picture book. Read in 70s or very early 80s.
For my mother in law in UK. She was born in 1938 and recalls a pink book which had a drawing of a dog on a bed and another one stretching, trying to get on the bed. This would have been between 1938 - 1949
