Children’s book I read to my kids in the 80’s. I believe it was part of a collection, my daughter believes it may be from Sesame Street. Probably a learning book about numbers. “Dragons” was definitely in the title, probably with a descriptive word in the middle, such as “Nine Daring Dragons”.
Read in late 70’s, may have been dated at the time. Cover was blue & grey or white. Girl sent on holiday & adjusting to a new life in a relatives home (w/ cousins?). Slips through time/reality via window or monument of some kind. Empowerment, magic, maybe Arthurian. Something about a door in the sky
I’m looking for a kids book from my childhood. The protagonist is a little girl, possibly named Elizabeth, who has a new baby in her family and is having trouble adjusting. Elizabeth wears black and white striped tights with Mary-Jane shoes. Can you help?
Small book (approx 4 x 6) for young girls maybe ages 5 – 9. Its about two young sisters around also around this age. They live in the country or on a farm. The story is about how they spend time together and play. They have a tire swing in their barn.
This book is probably Christian fiction/romance. My mom read this circa 2009, but that’s not necessarily the date of publication. The book is the last in a series of 3 or 4 books, and the main character of this volume, Mercy, plays only a minor role in the first two books. It takes place in the late 1800s, she thinks. This is how my mother summarized the plot:
Mercy is the lone daughter in a family of about 6 brothers and her father, who make her do all the housework and they are ungrateful. (Her mother is deceased.) The men get their meals cooked, their clothes washed, their house cleaned by their sister and NEVER give a thought to the miserable life she leads. She never complains because she figures it’s her lot in life.
Then one day she discovers a new neighbor down the road, a man with a little boy. She worms her way into the house, starts making meals, playing with the little kid, etc., even though the guy shows no interest. The best part is the end, where the guy finds out where she lives, and he goes over to talk to her. He finds her outside in the freezing cold, hanging wash, while the dad and brothers are all relaxing inside the warm house. He goes in, tells the men what he thinks of them for
sitting around while she’s out working in the cold, and he goes outside and takes her home with him, right then.

I’m looking for a children’s picture book about capturing dragons. I believe it came out in the 1980s. Cover is a close-up of a dragons head, with large, light-colored scales. Each page had a different dragon illustration. One was a green dragon, smoking, with a “mom” heart tattoo. Please help.
A spell is cast on a boy, and he is turned into a dog for the summer. Told from the boy’s/dog’s perspective. He leaves home and eats poisoned meat. He serves as a seeing-eye dog. Wakes back up as a boy. It was a chapter book for young readers, my wife Lori read it in 1978 or 1979.
a gang of kid mystery solvers, with one kid having a pet squirrel. The book was arranged in such a way where the left page was words and the right facing page a black & white illustration which contained a clue, very detailed illustrations similar to Where’s Waldo. From the 80s I think.
I’m searching for a children’s book about a mother cat giving birth to kittens. The title was Sunshine’s Kittens or Sunshine has Kittens. Definitely the name Sunshine. It was around in the early 70s – not sure of the publication date.
My grandparents had a children’s book about a kitten that was always on the wrong side of the door – the title may have been something like that. It was a small book, maybe 4″ x 6″ inches, with a light blue cover and an oval in the center with a picture of a little girl and/or the kitten on a front step. I think the kitten was black and white. It would have been in the early ’70s that they had it, but I have no idea how old it was. I don’t remember it looking too old at that time.
