I’m looking for a book I read around 1987. It was a seasonal children’s picture book for valentines day. It was hardback and I don’t remember it having words. I believe it was mostly black and white except for the hearts (valentines)I remember some being mailed and remember it raining hearts.
I am trying to find a book that I remember reading as a child.
I do not remember the title but I think it was from the 1950’s.
It was a thin book about the size of a Golden Book.
At the end of the story the main character paints all of the landscaping overnight bright and beautiful colors, which surprises everyone the next morning… 🙂

The book was paper bound, oblong shape, and may have come from a book club subscription.
I’m really hoping you can help me, I’ve been searching the web for a couple of weeks trying to find my favourite childhood book with no success!
It was a collection of short stories, the title of the book had the word ‘bedtime’ in it but I can’t remember any more than that. It was a hardback book with a blue cover and there was also a yellow hardback one of the same characters and author. In one of those books was a story about Mrs mouse who loses her ring in a teacup/teapot. I would have had this book in the 80’s perhaps early 90’s. This is all I can remember!
YA novel. A teenage girl goes to live with her father after her mother has a mental breakdown. She falls for a rich boy who drives a red sports car. His previous girlfriend is missing. Turns out a memeber of the group pushed her over a waterfall and she died. They are all covering it up.
The last scene of the book takes place in the girl’s bedroom. She had not been to school because she was ill. The guy tells her how his ex-girlfriend was killed by being pushed over the waterfall. I believe it was first in a series. It was out of print when I read it years ago. Ideally, I would really like to find all the books in the series.
A young adult (or middle reader?) book published sometime in the 1980’s about a boy who escapes from a New York City field trip and spends the day charmingly conning New Yorkers out of their money. The cover may show the boy dressed in a tuxedo, surrounded by a captivated street-corner audience.
A 1950s book about a girl, who every day, one summer watches a dump truck (or cement mixer/concrete truck) roll down her street. She dreams of all the things it builds. End of book, the truck arrives at her house and builds a blue pool.
Disconnected groups dealing w oxygen rationing underground. Some share oxygen equally, some have upper class getting more, lower class (called “sleepies”?) getting less. The protagonists (two kids?) find a group w a lower class completely comatose in a dark cavern. They ultimately reach the surface.
In 1973 I read an old hardcover book containing European children’s stories. The stories were probably written in the early 1900s. In one story a boy is working for a man in a village and unknowingly helps the man rob a house; the man uses a ladder to enter the second story of the house. Someone pulls up the driveway and they flee. Days later the boy returns to the village, is forgiven, and continues to be friends with the girl who lives in the house. He tells her how he fled through the woods and fields for days. He tells her that when he was fleeing, he met the man again by a lake, and the man said to keep running. There is no magic involved in this short work; it is not a fantasy. The story was written for ten to twelve year old readers.
I only remember a couple pages from this book from my childhood, but the images haunt me-would love to see the book today: The book has colorful illustrations of a horse walking down a street lined with fruit/ flower stands. The horse has on a wide- brimmed hat, I believe made of flowers.
