102T: Greek Mythology

Series of books I read in 1980. Must have yellow binding w/black letters. One book was completely Greek Mythology. The other books in the set are different topics and are fuzzy to me. Your closest solution is M129, wrong color/binding. The Young Folks Shelf Books also wrong color binding.

102S: Bunny Falls into a Hole

My mom used to read me a book in the early 1950’s which told the story of a bunny who disobeyed his mother and fell into a hole in the woods–eventually rescued, he learned his lesson.  The distinctive thing about the book was that the illustrations were photos of real bunnies dressed up in human clothing–for some reason, I think the photographer’s first name was ‘Bill’, but not certain about that.  Any help greatly appreciated.

102R: Story a Day

Looking for a book that was my mother’s. She was born in 1938 and had a book that featured a story a day for the year. It had a small margin on top of the story on each page that was illustrated in black and white. Published sometime in the 40’s.

102Q: Sultan’s Wives

A story about a sultan/ prince or  exotic, wealthy man – who is looking for a wife. He tries a lot of different ones; one is an American who arrives dressed in pants. He hates this! In fact he finds fault with each. He casts them all off.

102P: Tiny People Near a River

This book was a children’s book about a bunch of tiny people.  They lived on or around a river, and led a very scary life.  Someone – maybe a full size person, or a rival group of miniature people, was quite willing to kill them.  And hung dead animals up on trees to scare them away from wherever it was that they wanted to go.

I don’t know how it ended – as a child I only got through the first two thirds one night when my family was visiting another family, and there were no other kids present so I picked up something to read instead.  This would have been 1971/1972 in Africa, Lesotho or Swaziland.  So the book would most likely have been British in origin.  It was kind of dreadful and frightening for a kids’ book, but I have always been curious about how it ended!

102O: 7 Princesses

I would guess from the pictures that I remember that it was very Art Deco, from the 20’s, maybe the 30’s.  I used to have it when I was 5 or 6, but it was old then.  My Great Grandparents gave it to me, I think.  I wore it out.  It was my favorite. I think it was a thin book, like a Little Golden Book, don’t know publisher.  I would love to know the title, author, and if any copies are available.  The pictures are what are imprinted on my mind.  If I see it, I will know it.

It is about 7 princesses that are awakened each night and secretly taken to another land, by boat, to meet their princes and (I think) dance all night.  I don’t remember much more.

102M: Bear with Bionic Shoes

I’m looking for a children’s book early 1980s (or possibly very late 70s).  The main character was a young bear who had bionic shoes – Bruce the Bionic Bear?  He looked like one of the Berenstain bears, but I can’t seem to track him down that way.  When he put his shoes on, he could leap across streams and there was a big rainbow illustrated somewhere in it too.

102L, solved: Large Pine Tree

Circa 1960: Children’s book about a large pine tree in a forest which all the animals and birds seek shelter in, especially during the winter in the snow. The illustration in the snow with all the birds on the branches and the animals sheltered at the bottom of the tree was amazing. I seem to remember a little girl having to take shelter in it too, along with the animals. Then something happens to the tree…it falls down during a storm or something like that. The birds and animals are sad and worried. Then someone plants a new smaller tree which will grow and take its place. The illustrations are beautiful (I realize that doesn’t help) – maybe a German or European author/illustrator? Definitely German or Scandinavian in style. Something tells me the title was “The ____ Tree” but not The Giving Tree, and I’ve searched until I’m desperate.

102K, Solved: Bunnies Moving to a New Home

I don’t know the title, but it’s about a Mom and Child (I think it was a daughter) bunnies who needed to move out of their home (I think because it was too small) they go looking for a new home and but nothing is quite right until they find the perfect one (my sister and I can’t agree on what the final home was, if it was a stump or a large mushroom). I think there’s a picture at the end of them hanging checkered curtains and sweeping the front stoop.

The book would’ve been published before 1987. It had beautiful detailed illustrations, with lots of oranges and browns (so I’m thinking 1970’s).

Any help would be great. My sister has been wanting to buy this book for her children, since it was one of her favorites, but not knowing anything other than the plot has made it impossible to find.

Thanks!
