175E: 1970s/1980 s anthology of children’s stories with a story about pancake land
I am looking for an anthology of short children’s stories that I had as a child ( in the mid 1980s). Based on my recollection, it should have been published in the late 1970s to mid 1980s. It had a shiny navy blue cover with some illustrations. There were spot color illustrations throughout the book. I would estimate that it had between 200 – 300 pages in total. It contained numerous short stories.
The story that i recall most clearly involves a boy who had to wash dishes as a punishment. During this chore, he was magically transported to a land where everything was made from pancakes. There were countless other stories in this book, including one about elves who were cobblers and a pirate who was a rat.
175D: boy, ghost, orchard (solved)
i don’t know the title or author, which is why i need you. this is a YA type mystery or horror (not sure how they categorized things back then) from the late 70s early 80s. I probably got it through scholastic at school (i was in 4th or 5th grade at the time). i’ve searched and searched book covers for years and am hoping you can help.
i don’t remember much, but finding this book means so much because of events surrounding it during that period. dark green cover with a broken gravestone on it, possibly a crow, possibly trees (an orchard or grove) as well. the story itself was a boy gone to live with his grandparents (? or relatives in general?) and befriends a ghost in the walls/closet/something in the house. ends up in the orchard out back. finds the boy’s grave. god that’s not a lot to go on!
Thank you in advance!!
175C: carousel horse
fictional story of a young man who is hired to help carve horses for a carousel, his model turns out to be a pony/horse stolen from a circus, pony might have been grey. The circus people recognize the pony from the carvings and threaten to destroy the carousel. I read it in the 1960’s, but it was not a new book.

175A: girl sees scenes (future?) on TV after repair (Solved)
Kids’ sci-fi, girl sees scenes (future?) on TV after repair by strange men, (possibly aliens?). In dialogue, girl has sarcastic sense of humor, refers to baby brother as “lucky stiff.” 1970s or 1980s, paperback.
174F: magical flying princess turns king & queen into Giants

My query is a bit different than the usual… I own 6 original illustrations from a children’s story but do not know the book title, author or illustrator. I am seeking information on the book title. Description – A little princess is in her bedroom and the Queen bursts in holding a clock that is set at 9:45 she wants her to go to sleep. The Princess acquires magical powers, can fly above the castle balance
d on the courtiers and animals and causes the King + Queen to grow so big that they can no longer fit in the house. Now huge, they stare through the kitchen window while she enjoys herself with the chef. Girl wears purple, has a shaggy dog and a Knight and Wizard also seems to be part of the story line. Based on the illustration style and details I would date this edition to the 1967 -1971.
thank you
174E: Time Traveling Teams circa 1972
Three books in a series; time travelers from England arrive on bleak ocean shore, conch shell (speaking?) plays a role; more adult than Narnia; some quest of right and wrong played out; overall somewhat sad and full of loss as story unfolds.
