251B: Bugs in Potted Plant (Solved)

An illustrated ’70s or ’80s children’s book about cartoon-looking bugs living in a city within/on a potted plant. The bugs had houses and shops and children. They wore clothes I think and were quite humanly.

Thank you for your reply! Neither of the books you suggested matched the book I remember. In the book I’m thinking of, the bugs were more like people. The mom bugs had hair and purses and wore dresses. They lived in homes or apartments I think. I can’t remember the plot exactly I think it was just going around this big city showing different scenes. At the end of the book there’s an illustration of the indoor potted plant that the city is in. I can’t remember much because I was so young when I read it but it always stuck with me for some reason! Thanks for your help again.

I looked up Twiddlebugs on Google and I found the book! It was the 1980 edition Twiddlebugs at Work!!! Thank you so much for your suggestion this has been a decade-long question of mine!

I agree with the above poster regarding the Sesame Street Twiddlebug books. I also wondered if you might be referring to Richard Scarry’s Goldbug books.
