Hi – This is definitely Miss Jelly Tot’s Visit (1955) by Mabel Leigh Hunt, an extremely prolific children’s book author. It is one of my (many) favorites from when I was in elementary school. Katie O’Dea decides she wants to be a fancy visitor like a former college friend of her mother’s. Jelly tot (cookies) are Katie’s very favorite treat. Her mom and dad help her live out her fantasy visit (complete with stay in the family’s guest bedroom.) Katie does discover that summer visitors come in more than one package…
