I am looking for a large, oversized children’s picture book that I read between 1973 and 1976. It was an anthology containing many stories. One story I remember clearly featured two zebras — a father and a son — who would race each other. The young son could never beat his father, until one day he finally did. The book may have been published in the 1950s or 1960s. Any help identifying either the specific zebra story or the anthology it appeared in would be greatly appreciated.

377V: Russle the Raccoon (Solved!)
I am looking for:Children’s Book
Title:Russle or Russell
Year read: 1972-1977 I was 4 years old and this was a favorite of mine.
About:A raccoon named Russle (it is spelled incorrectly because raccoons don’t know how to spell). Russle doesn’t like to go out at night and look for food with his gang, she likes to sleep. Emma Jean the leader of the raccoons doesn’t like this. Emma Jean carries rocks in her purse. During the day on Russle’s adventures, he meets a little boy. He gives him a banana. They play together and eventually he moves in with his new friend. Emma Jean and the gang do come to visit. Russle always gives Emma Jean two bananas. Description of cover:Hardback. Russle is on the cover. I believe he is standing in flowi. The background is purple and black.
This was a favorite book and I cannot find it ANYWHERE.
377S: Animal beggars who were at the bottom of a well
There’s a book that I had as a child that my mother hated reading to me – I was born in 1987, we had this book before I turned 10. It was a children’s book, illustrated, it was about animal beggars with different kinds of injuries (one missing legs, one blind – war wounds I think), I think one of the animals was a frog. They lived (or hid?) in the bottom of the well and meat was thrown down to them. I’m sorry that I don’t remember much more of about this book.
374W: Granddaughter Elephant visits Grandma
Help! Seeking illustrated children’s book possibly from 1980s or 1990s featuring anthropomorphic elephants. Story centers on girl/grandaughter spending the day with grandmother. Grandmother elephant has wrinkly skin, possibly wears glasses.
372O: Vintage children’s photo book – 1960s or earlier
Hello Book Heroes! The very back of my brain has been tickling me about a book I had as a child, and I’m hoping you can find it for me.
I don’t recall whether there was any text at all, but I think they were nursery rhymes – what I DO remember is that the illustrations were all photos of miniature items arranged in scenes, perhaps with live baby animals (chicks, kittens, puppies)? If they weren’t live animals, they would have been perhaps plastic figures, maybe with flocking to make them look fuzzy.
372M: Alliterated Named- Animals
Hi, I’m searching for the name of a series of children’s books I read in the 1960s and 1970s. I don’t remember much about them except that all the characters were animals
and they had alliterated names. There was a firefly in the books. The coverwas very cute. These books gave me a lifelong love of reading. I was in grade 5 at the time, going to school in Hull, Quebec, Canada. The books were in English. Unfortunately that’s all I remember.
371I: Two animal friends leave small town on Road Trip
Two critters leave their home town together on a road trip in a red (i think) car. They journey through what I recall as a European type landscape, I remember mountains and a ferry. When they finally come back to their home it looks different to them because they have seen the world now.
369U: Animal Friends Live in Colorful Houses
I am looking for a older Children’s book. It is about animals who live in colorful houses, one animal lives in a brown house and is sad about it and all the other animals make him a blanket.
369L: Series of animal stories
So there were many books in this series
-one was an animal stealing ribbons and the turtles wax for their bike without asking
-one was all the animals calling a little crow a monster because they thought he looked scary and they found out he was nice in the end
-one where two of the animals were trying to find treasure but get lost and stumble onto the old dogs fishing spot ( I think his name might have been old red or old blue) and he shows them that it’s under the plank because it was his old treasure
-one with a broken wagon
-one where they are playing baseball in the rain
-one where an animal thinks their birthday is forgotten but all the animals are throwing a surprise party
-and one where one of the animals is painting and their pet lady bug is stepping in the paint and making tracks
if i remember correctly each book also had a dvd.
